Un día como hoy hace 16 años (que no son pocos…) Ian Murdock, hacía el anuncio oficial del nacimiento de una nueva distribución GNU/Linux a la que llamó Debian. La distribución marcó un antes y un después en el mundo del software libre y probablemente haya sido la que más cambios y secuelas ha dejado y dejará en todas las demás distribuciones. Sólo tenemos que ver la realidad de todas las distribuciones derivadas de la misma, entre las que se encuentra la tan laureada Ubuntu.
Esperemos que anuncio como la ayuda que quiere prestar Shuttleworth a la distribución matriz se hagan realidad, porque no repercutirán sólo en ella, sino en todas sus herederas.

La Bolsa de Valores de Londres ha acordado adquirir MillenniumIT, que sustituirá sus sistemas TradElect e Infolect. TradElect está basado en Windows Server y. NET, y fue creado por Microsoft y Accenture.
La Bolsa de Londres sufrió un corte de luz en septiembre de 2008, y se rumorea que fue culpa de TradElect.
MillenniumIT es socio de Sun y Oracle, y el folleto de MillenniumIT dice:

En un mail de LUGAr llega la noticia de que dentro de la libreria filewin.dll del siap se encuentra la leyenda:

Por los comentarios en la web que dio el anuncio, parece ser que la libreria fue basada en una version antigua de gzip.
Como chisme; el módulo recién publicado sicom o como se llamaba antes sijp12 también lo trae…
