Hace unos meses comentabamos que SourceForge había comenzado a bloquear el trafico de ciertos países con los cuales el imperio del norte tenia alguna disputa (Cuba, Irán, Korea del Norte, Sudán y Siria), esta medida no solo resultaba altamente discriminatoria y aparentaba que EEUU era dueño de todos los proyectos alojados en SourceForge, sino que también violaba el principio de libre distribución del software libre.

El día de hoy llegó un e-mail dirigido a los administradores de proyectos alojados en el sitio, informando que se agregó una nueva función en la configuración del proyecto, permitiendo eliminar el bloqueo a estos países.

Es un gran avance para restablecer la libertad que alguna vez tubo el sitio, pero por defecto, al crear un nuevo proyecto, queda configurado con el bloqueo activo.

Para eliminar el bloqueo hay que seguir los siguientes pasos:

1. Nos logueamos en el sitio e ingresamos a nuestro proyecto.
2. Ingresamos en Project Admin -> Project Settings.
3. Buscamos la sección “Export Control” y seleccionamos el primer radio button.
4. Click en Update para aceptar el cambio.

Mas allá de la buena noticia, SourceForge continua afirmando que es un sitio web con sede en EEUU y que se somete a las leyes del tirano país, esperemos que pronto tengamos nuevas noticias informando que la sede ya no esta en EEUU y volvamos a tener una buena opción como alguna vez fue SourceForge.

Hello SourceForge project administrator,

SourceForge has project settings to help you comply with regulations
governing distribution of software to persons from certain countries
(aka Export Controls).	We've had some recent questions about these
settings, so have sent out this note to all administrators to make
sure all projects have this information.

By default, software downloads initiated by visitors from Sudan, North
Korea, Syria, Iran and Cuba are blocked.

A project administrator may disable this blocking if they conclude
that their project is *not* subject to US export-related regulations
or any prohibitions of applicable jurisdictions:
1. Project Admin -> Project Settings.
2. Find the "Export Control" section.
3. Tick the first radio button under "Export Control" and click "Update".
